A Rush in Vancouver

British Columbia, here come the sheep!

Our first TouchLab in Western Canada is open now in the Kitsilano neighborhood at 2089 West 4th Avenue, near the corner of Arbutus. Our grand opening party is on Tuesday, 22 March.

Last week we were fortunate to be on a local TV show called “Shaw Urban Rush,” which highlights events, fashion and trends in the greater Vancouver area. We brought up our Run General Manager Deb Boswell and also had some Icebreaker models and even Ramotaur to help out.

Deb talked about the store, run, bike and lifestyle lines, Baacode and much more. Check it out:

Our Vancouver Sun Runners

A motivated bunch of Icebreaker Canadian employees, coolly clad in their new Icebreaker GT Multisport, joined 50,000 other runners in the 26th annual Vancouver Sun Run on May 9th 2010. Keeping true to its name, we had warm, bright conditions with a cool Vancouver breeze to keep us motivated in the second-largest timed 10-kilometre run in North America.  The GT Dash Tank also helped keep us cool and proved the point, once again, that we don’t stink.  The Sun Run, sponsored by The Vancouver Sun newspaper, is a 10-km race held in the city since 1985. The primary mandate of the Sun Run is to “promote health, fitness and community spirit and to support amateur athletics”.

After 2 long hours of waiting at the start due to the endless crowd participating, the Icebreaker flock successfully ran the race and made mama proud as it was also Mother’s Day. The route ran along our beloved seawall path – used by pedestrians, cyclists, and inline skaters – which extends for a total of 22 kilometers.  To celebrate our victory, we all raised glasses to a great day, drinking the truly Canadian Caesar cocktail – originally from Calgary – with vodka, clamato (a blend of tomato juice and clam broth), Worcestershire and Tabasco sauce, and served on the rocks in a celery salt-rimmed glass, garnished with celery and wedge of lime. Santé!
